Campaigns
Steps
In Campaigns, New campaign, then Create and build. Each lead goes down the steps in order; Add a step… adds one, and its handle moves it. After a step, Wait before next step sets a pause in hours.
| Step | What it does |
|---|---|
| View profile | Opens the lead’s profile, as a person would before reaching out. |
| Follow | Follows the lead. |
| Like a recent post | Likes one of the lead’s recent posts. |
| Send invitation | Sends an invitation, with a note of up to 300 characters if you write one. |
| Send message | Sends a message. LinkedIn takes messages from 1st-degree connections only. |
| Send InMail | Sends an InMail (a subject and a message) from a sender with InMail credits: Sales Navigator or Recruiter. |
| Withdraw invitation | Withdraws the lead’s invitation if it is still waiting. |
| Wait | Waits a number of hours before the next step. |
| If the lead… | Sends the lead down a Yes or a No branch: accepted the invitation, replied, is a 1st-degree connection, has an Open Profile. |
- A message needs an invitation before it, or the Yes branch of “accepted the invitation” or “is a 1st-degree connection”.
- “1st-degree” and “Open Profile” need a View profile step earlier on, and a condition is the last step of its branch.
- Up to 50 steps, with conditions up to 5 deep; waits up to 90 days.
- The steps open on the Map, a condition’s Yes and No side by side. Select a step to change it in the panel beside it; the + on a line adds a step there, and a condition added above other steps takes them into its Yes branch. Outlinelists the same steps instead, for small screens and screen readers.
- Save steps keeps them. A draft can change in every way; a paused campaign only its texts and waits; a running one not at all (pause it first).
Variables
Notes, messages and InMails can use the lead’s {{firstName}}, {{lastName}}, {{company}}, {{title}}, {{location}}, the import’s {{custom.<name>}} and {{aiFirstLine}}. After a | comes what to write when the lead has no value: {{firstName|there}}. Give one: a variable with no value and no fallback stops that lead, which shows as Failed.
Settings
- Stop a lead’s sequence when they reply: on unless you turn it off.
- Withdraw invitations still pending after (days, 7–180): 21 unless you change it.
- Campaigns have no hours of their own: each sender works its own (see limits).
AI first lines
With Write an AI first line on, each lead gets one personal opening line for {{aiFirstLine|…}}, at most 200 characters, in the language you set (English if none). It is written from the lead’s title and company, and from their headline and About when a sender viewed their profile in the last 30 days; never from their name or email.
- Each line costs one credit, also when a reviewer rejects it; one that could not be written costs nothing. With no credits left, the message goes out with its fallback.
- With Review each line before it is sent, leads wait under AI first lines to review on the campaign’s page: Approve, Approve as edited, or Reject to send the fallback instead.
Senders and leads
Under Sender pool, tick the accounts the campaign sends from and give each a weight from 1 to 100: a sender with weight 2 gets twice the new leads of one with weight 1, counting what each already has. Only senders warming up, active or slowed down, and not paused, take leads; the others’ waiting leads move to the rest. A lead keeps the sender it started with.
Leads join a campaign two ways:
- A whole import: on its page, choose the campaign and Add these leads to the campaign.
- Add leads on the campaign’s page, from the workspace’s newest.
A person is in one live campaign at a time, and excluded people are left out; the console counts both.
Starting, pausing, stopping
- Start campaign once it has steps and a sender pool.
- Pause campaign holds every lead where it is; Resume campaign carries on.
- Stop campaign ends it for good: actions under way finish, nothing new starts, and its leads are free for other campaigns.
- Archive (any campaign not running) takes it off the list for good; its results and history stay, under Archived on the campaigns page.
One lead at a time can be paused, resumed or removed from the campaign’s lead list.
| Lead | Means |
|---|---|
| Waiting | Not started: it waits for its turn or for a sender who takes leads. |
| In progress | Going down the sequence. |
| Paused | Held by a person; Resume carries on where it was. |
| Replied | Wrote back, so the sequence stopped (when the campaign stops on replies). |
| Done | Reached the end of its branch. |
| Failed | A step could not go out and will not be tried again. |
| Removed | Taken out of the campaign, or excluded. |
Results and reports
A campaign’s page shows its leads, invitations sent, accepted and replied, by step and by sender, updated every few minutes. Acceptance and replies are counted against invitations sent.
The workspace’s Overview shows the last 7, 30 or 90 days across campaigns: invitations, acceptance, replies, messages, interested leads and meetings booked, by sender. Download by day (CSV) and by sender (CSV) export them. Client viewers see this page only (see roles).
